Quiet tools last longer
The tools I keep are rarely the loudest. They wait well and make returning easy.
A quiet tool does not demand a relationship, but it rewards one. It leaves room for skill and memory to grow around it.
This quality is hard to measure because it emerges over time: fewer interruptions, fewer surprises, more confidence.
I want to design for the second year of use, not only the first five minutes.
